MoS for medical education appeals nurses to call off strike

Bhopal, February 3, 2011 (Abdul Ahad Farhan):  Health services at various medical college hospitals were rendered smoothly in the State. The State Government ensured administration of treatment to admitted patients and patients coming to hospitals. The services were provided with the alternative help of paramedic. Minister of State for medical education, public health, family welfare and Ayush Mr. Mahendra Hardia has made an appeal to the nurses to call off their strike in the interests of patients.  The State Government has warned that any person found invoking for going on strike will be dealt with strict action. Around 5 thousand patients were administered treatment at OPDs while 734 patients were admitted to the hospitals. Besides, 107 operations were performed and test analysis of one thousand patients were conducted.

Medical Education Minister reviewed the situation created by the strike of nurses at a meeting. The reports sent by five medical college deans revealed that the health services went on smoothly. The deans were instructed to evict the students from hostel and government nursing school joining the hands of striking people. The minister asked the officials to depute alternate and sufficient staff of nurses and paramedic at hospitals. It was informed at the meeting that the services of nurses of health department and ESIS are being taken at hospital affiliated to medical colleges.
