Governor expresses grief on gas tragedy anniversary
Bhopal, December 4, 2011 (Abdul Ahad Farhan): Expressing grief over world’s worst industrial and chemical disaster on the 27th anniversary of Bhopal gas tragedy, Governor Mr. Ram Naresh Yadav said this incident has left an indelible mark on the hearts of Bhopal’s residents. It cannot be forgotten or erased from their memories. He said that such an incident should not be repeated anywhere in the world. Mr. Yadav expressed satisfaction on what the State Government is doing for gas victims’ relief and rehabilitation effectively. It is the only way of alleviating pains of gas-affected families. Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan, MP Mr. Kailash Joshi, Urban Administration Minister Mr. Babulal Gaur, Home Minister Mr. Umashankar Gupta, Mayor Mrs. Krishna Gaur, MLA Mr. Dhruv Narayan Singh, BMC Chairman Mr. Kailash Mishra and Chief Secretary Mr. Avani Vaish were also present at the all-religion prayer.
On the occasion, representatives of various religions recited their respective scriptures for the peace of those who died in the gas tragedy. They included Dr. Shivdutt Shastri, Mr. Syed Mohammad Kazmi Fazili, Gyani Dilip Singh Ji, Fr. Anand Mutungal, Pujya Bhante Shakya Putra Sagar and Bal Brahmachari Mr. Atmanand Ji. All the people paid floral tributes to the symbol of gas tragedy. A two-minute silence was also observed on the occasion for peace of the departed souls.
