Voters to be identified through thumb impression

 First experiment in Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal, August 12, 2015 (Ataullah Faizan):  Voters will be identified through thumb impression in polling to be held on August 12 in Suwasara Nagar Parishad in Mandsaur district. As soon as a voter enters polling booth his thumb impression will be taken on biometric machine. On the basis of thumb impression, entire information about voter including photograph will appear on the screen of biometric tab. Aadhar Numbers of voters in the Nagar Parishad have been linked to Voter ID cards. State Election Commissioner Mr. R. Parasuram has informed that this process to identify voters is being undertaken for the first time in the state. He informed that claims and objections pertaining to Suwasara’s electoral rolls were also made online. Webcasting of polling in Suwasara will also be done. State Election Commissioner Mr. R. Parasuram has urged voters to exercise their franchise fearlessly in elections in 10 urban bodies on August 12. Polling will be held tomorrow for Ujjain and Morena municipal corporations, Vidisha, Sarangpur and Harda Nagar Palika Parishads and Dhuwara, Chakghat, Kotar, Suwasara and Bhainsdehi Nagar Parishads from 7 am to 5 pm. Polling will be held through EVMs. Counting will be held from 9 am on August 16. By-election for President will be held at Harda and Bhainsdehi Nagar Parishads.
