CM at women’s empowerment convention at Ratlam
Dedication and foundation laying of works costing Rs. 587 crore
Bhopal, August 20, 2015 (Muslim Saleem): On Rakshabandhan, sisters should visualize that they have tied Rakhi on the hand of Shivraj Bhaiya. Sisters’ Raksha Sutra is my real strength. This was stated by Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan while addressing Women’s Empowerment Convention at Ratlam today. He said that a number of schemes are being implemented for women’s empowerment. At the convention, development works costing Rs. 119 crore in the district were dedicated and foundation stones of Rs. 468 crore works laid. The Chief Minister said that people should not differentiate between sons and daughters. They should also educate daughters like sons and provide them opportunities to move forward. Mr. Chouhan said that 20 lakh girls have been benefited under Ladli Laxmi Yojana so far. For empowerment, women have been given 50 percent reservation in 3-tier Panchayat Raj System and urban bodies and 33 percent reservation in police posts. Mr. Chouhan said that state level convention of Women’s SHGs will be held at Bhopal in September 2015 for their further economic empowerment. He said that when women have money, they would represent their families.
Women & Child Development Minister Mrs. Maya Singh said that women’s role is significant in strengthening foundation of state’s progress. She assured that women will walk shoulder to shoulder to empower the state. At the outset, Secretary Women and Child Development Mr. J.N. Kansotiya gave a detailed account of departmental schemes in his welcome address. Health Minister Dr. Narottam Mishra, MLAs Chetanya Kashyap, Rajendra Pandey, Mathuralal, Jitendra Gehlot, Mrs. Sangeeta Charel, Miss Nirmala Bhuria, Mayor Dr. Sunita Yarde, Madhya Pradesh Finance Commission’s Chairman Mr. Himmat Kothari and large number of women and distinguished citizens were also present.
