Bhopal, October 8, 2015 (Ataullah Faizan): Panchayats & Rural Development Minister Mr. Gopal Bhargava and Forest Minister Dr. Gaurishankar Shejwar concluded Wildlife Conservation Week here today. As many as 63 winners of 17 competitions held during the week from October 1 to 7 were awarded. Besides, 11 officers and employees were felicitated for outstanding wildlife conservation work. Prize winners include 15 of painting competition, 6 each of school-college and teacher level debate competitions, 3 of Rangoli, 6 of photo, 9 of essay, 6 of quiz, 6 of creative activities and 3 winners of fancy dress competition. The Ministers duo started the function by administering wildlife conservation pledge to those present.
Panchayats & Rural Development Minister Mr. Gopal Bhargava and Forest Minister Dr. Gaurishankar Shejwar felicitated 11 officers and employees for outstanding wildlife conservation work at the concluding function of Wildlife Conservation Week here today. Awardees of various categories were given Rs. 50 thousand cheque and letter of citation each.
Divisional Forest Officer Mr. Ravikant Sharma was awarded for classifying wild animals on the basis of their nature and habitats and developing grasslands of suitable grass by eradicating weed in Kuno sanctuary. For innovation in wild life management, he was given Rs. 50 thousand award jointly with Deputy Divisional Forest Officer Mr. Jagannath Prasad Sharma. In category-II, Rs. 50 thousand award and letter of citation was presented to Forest Ranger Mr. Nitian Nigam, Chhindwara for arresting 7 poachers of pangolin and putting up the case in court.
The award in category-III was conferred to Mr. Chudamani Mishra of Satpura tiger reserve, Hoshangabad for exemplary deed of rescuing an alligator, python and a 9-feet long Ghorapachad snake and Mr. Rammu Ahirwar of Panna tiger reserve for contribution in tiger rehabilitation and training tiger cubs to prey. Forest Rangers of Barwaha Mr. Vishwanath Tiwari and Mr. Shoaib Khan were awarded for arresting poachers of Chinkara and Forest Guards Mr. Mukesh Tiwari and Mr. Arpit Mishra of Seoni for rescuing a cheetah, bear, 2 leopards and 3 cobras. Assistant Conservators of Forests Mr. Ritesh Sirothiya and Mr. Siyasaran Mishra were awarded by WWF India for outstanding works for Pardhi children.
