Mr. Shukla at inter solar exhibition in Mumbai
Bhopal, November 20, 2015 (Ataullah Faizan): New & Renewable Energy Minister Mr. Rajendra Shukla has said that it is matter of pride that world’s biggest ultra mega solar power project is going to be established at Rewa. The project would be made a model. Mr. Shukla was addressing domestic and foreign investors at Inter Solar Exhibition in Mumbai today. Minister Mr. Shukla informed that world’s biggest 750 MW solar power project is being established on 1560 hectare area. For this, joint venture company has been constituted by Solar Energy Corporation of India and Madhya Pradesh Energy Development Corporation on August 8, 2015.
For the project, 1260 hectare government land and 300 hectare private land has been acquired. The Minister said that the project would be completed by June 2017. Prime Minister will inaugurate it. Power generated in the project will be consumed in Madhya Pradesh. Surplus power will be sold to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation. The Minister apprised investors of better possibilities in solar energy sector in the state. He informed that 667 MW solar energy projects are under construction while 1025 MW wind energy projects have been established in the state. Projects of 7,120 MW wind energy are under construction in Madhya Pradesh.
Principal Secretary Energy Mr. Manu Shrivastava informed that world’s biggest 550 MW solar power plant was situated at California. Now, Rewa will have pride of world’s biggest solar power plant. He informed about works being undertaken in the state in minor hydel power and bio-mass energy sectors. Director of Solar Energy Corporation of India Mr. Dilip Nigam and CEO of MMI India Limited Miss Katharina Schlegel also spoke on the occasion.
