CM at all-religion prayer meeting on anniversary of Bhopal gas tragedy
Bhopal, December 4, 2015 (Ataullah Faizan): Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that destruction is possible if indiscriminate exploitation of nature is not stopped. Mr. Chouhan said that pledge should be taken that crime against humanity like Bhopal gas tragedy does not recur anywhere in the world. He said that tragedy like that happened on December 3, 1984 will not be allowed to be repeated in any city. The Chief Minister was addressing an all-religion prayers on 31st anniversary of Bhopal gas tragedy at Barkatullah Bhavan (Central Library) here today. Mr. Chouhan said that balance between development and environment is necessary. Tragedies occur due to indiscriminate exploitation of nature in the race of development. We should not forget about safety norms in the wanton race of development. He said that bad works yield bad results.
He hoped that the world will definitely ponder about it and will not do a deed which might result in an unfortunate incident like Bhopal gas tragedy. He said that both government and society are responsible for better treatment and rehabilitation of gas-affected people. At the condolence meeting, representatives of Sanatan Dharm, Islam, Sikhism, Buddhism and Bohra community recited their scriptures. Two-minute silence was observed to pay tributes to those killed in the gas tragedy. Home Minister Mr. Babulal Gaur, Health Minister Dr. Narottam Mishra, Chairman of Municipal Corporation Mr. Surjeet Singh Chouhan, Mr. Ramesh Sharma ‘Guttu Bhaiya’, senior officers and distinguished citizens were present on the occasion.
