Mrs. Scindia inaugurates workshop on “South Asian vernacular architecture”
Bhopal, December 12, 2015 (Ataullah Faizan): Industries Minister Mrs. Yashodhara Raje Scindia has said that vernacular architecture is the best example of carving global touch at local level. Local architecture must be incorporated with mainstream. Minister Mrs. Scindia inaugurated workshop on ‘South Asian Vernacular Architecture’ at Indira Gandhi Manav Sangrahalaya here today. Chairman of School of Planning and Architecture Mrs. Sunita Kohli, Chairman of ITRHD Mr. Shashikant Mishra and Director Indira Gandhi Manav Sangrahalaya Mr. Sarit Choudhary were present on the occasion.
Minister Mrs. Scindia said that vernacular architecture should also be made part of efforts to concretise concept of Smart City. Local architecture can prove to be better medium to preserve historic heritages. Mrs. Scindia also laid emphasis on building developed India by including local architecture in urban administration, Archaeology Department etc. Mrs. Scindia also released book ‘Towards a History of Architecture – An Indigenous Perspective’.
