Miss Mahdele chairs meeting of PHED advisory committee
Bhopal, December 17, 2015 (Ataullah Faizan): Public Health Engineering Minister Miss Kusum Mahdele has said that such piped water schemes should be chalked out which are durable for minimum 15-20 years. Miss Mahdele was addressing a meeting of departmental advisory committee here today. MLA members of the committee Pannalal Shakya, Satyapal Singh Sikarwar, Mrs. Neelam Abhay Mishra attended the meeting. MLA Harvansh Singh Rathore was also specially present on the occasion. Miss Mahdele said that piped water schemes should be constructed under PPP mode in future.
It should be ensured that the contractors who construct these schemes will maintain them for 20 years. She assured the members that efforts would be made to ensure that water supply is not disrupted during even extreme summer hot. Drinking water supply will also be ensured in hilly areas. For this, special attention would be paid to transportation of water. Members also gave suggestions at the meeting. At the outset, Principal Secretary PHE Mr. Ashwini Kumar Rai threw light on departmental activities.
He informed that not only drinking water sources are available within 500 metres in one lakh 7 thousand 552 out of one lakh 27 thousand 552 (84 percent) habitats in the state, but 55 litres per head per day drinking water is also being provided. Out of 5 lakh 29 thousand 814 hand pumps, 5 lakh 12 thousand 916 are in running condition. Similarly, 12 thousand 466 out of 15 thousand 58 piped water schemes are also in running condition.
