Miss Mahdele in workshop on marketing of horticulture products
Bhopal, December 18, 2015 (Abdul Ahad Farhan): Horticulture & Food Processing Minister Miss Kusum Mahdele has said that horticulture activities should be expanded to all districts in the state. Miss Mahdele was addressing a workshop on entrepreneurs and farmers associated with horticulture crops regarding marketing of horticulture products here today. Agriculture Production Commissioner Mr. P.C. Meena and Principal Secretary Horticulture Mr. Ashok Warnwal were also present on the occasion. Miss Kusum Mahdele said that special attention should be paid to the districts where horticulture activities are minimal.
Farmers should be associated with horticulture crops apart from traditional farming. Efforts should be made to set up one food processing plant in every block. Units to process horticulture crops should be set up like flour mills. Entrepreneurs, officers and farmers should exchange knowledge about horticulture. Area under horticulture crops should be expanded keeping in view districts’ climate, soil fertility etc. Horticulture activities should be promoted by dividing entire state in 4 zones. The state government wishes to increase production of horticulture crops, vegetables and spices in the state. At the outset, Mr. Ashok Warnwal informed the progress of horticulture schemes. Entrepreneurs and farmers from different districts of the state attended the workshop.
