Ensure completion of rural electrification works by March
CM directs during review of energy department
Bhopal, January 12, 2016 (Muslim Saleem): Chief Minister Mr. Chouhan was reviewing activities of Energy Department here today. Chief Secretary Mr. Anthony de Sa was also present on the occasion. The Chief Minister said that the work to energise Majra-Tolas of population of over 20 families and villages should be done as a campaign. Action plans should be chalked out after identifying such Majra-Tolas and villages in districts. He said that time-limit should be prescribed to convert temporary connections of farmers to permanent ones. Cases to install transformers by groups under ‘Own Your Transformer Scheme’ should be encouraged. He said that regional companies should share their innovations to improve services of the Board. Mr. Chouhan asked to prepare a time-bound calendar for feeder separation works.
The works should be reviewed monthly. He said that priority should be attached to schemes being run with contribution of farmers. It should be ensured that works are undertaken within time-limit. He said that when allocation is received under scheme for providing LED bulbs on concessional rates, priority in it should be given to the poor, SC and ST families. At the time of distribution, awareness programmes should also be held to inform people about importance of LED bulbs’ use. The Chief Minister said that rationalisation of bills to solve problems of poor electricity consumers should be done by launching a drive.
He said that the department should chalk out a scheme for rationalisation of electricity bills so that problem faced by poor people to clear dues is solved. They should be supplied power at concessional rates. Electricity bills should always be realised regularly. He also stressed the need to change format of electricity bills so that they can be understood easily by common consumer. He said that mention of free electricity units should be made in bills of BPL families. He also stressed the need to simplify tariff slabs.
The Chief Minister reviewed cases received under CM Helpline. He said that senior officers should review cases of special closure. Disciplinary action should be initiated against those committing negligence in this work. He stressed the need for making management of maintenance works more effective and making power generating company frugal. He directed to chalk out an action plan for availability of facilities in accordance with future requirements by Energy Department. He stressed the need to create awareness among farmers about conserving power during irrigation work.
