Drive to include eligible and remove ineligible families under PDS

CM Mr. Chouhan directs at review meeting

cmpds5.2.16Bhopal, February 5, 2016 (Ataullah Faizan):  A drive would be launched to include eligible and remove ineligible families under public distribution system. This was directed by Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan while reviewing activities of Food and Civil Supplies Department here today. Departmental Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah and Chief Secretary Mr. Anthony de Sa also attended the meeting. Mr. Chouhan directed to evolve such a system under PDS that no eligible family remains deprived. Maximum transparency should be ensured in food grains distribution. Preparations for food grains procurement should be completed within time-limit. Pending cases under Food Security Act should be disposed of speedily.

The meeting gave in-principle consent to convert PDS shops into multi-purpose ones. The meeting was informed that ration under PDS is being distributed to one crore 17 lakh families. Data of families under the system has been digitalised. POS machines providing option to consumers to purchase ration from any PDS shop of their choice will be installed at all 22 thousand 409 fair price shops by the end of March. So far, POS machines have been installed at 11 thousand 724 shops. Total, 12 lakh 66 thousand MT paddy has been procured on support price. Wheat will be procured on support price from March 16.

Under special inspection drive, Weights & Measurements Department undertook 25 thousand 85 inspections and filed 4 thousand 365 cases. Scheme to distribute double fortified salt in 89 tribal districts has been chalked out. The Chief Minister unveiled e-warehouse licensing facility. The system has been introduced by the department under Ease of Doing Business. He also launched POS facility. At present, this facility has been introduced in Bhopal, Hoshangabad, Harda and Indore districts. Registrar of State Consumers Forum Mr. Avdhesh Kumar Srivastava, Principal Secretary Food and Civil Supplies Mr. Ashok Warnwal, Principal Secretary Finance Ashish Upadhyay, Commissioner Food and Civil Supplies Mr. Manohar Agnani, Secretary to CM Mr. Vivek Agrawal and departmental officers also attended the meeting.
