Bhopal, February 7, 2016 (Ataullah Faizan): Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan will be chief guest of mega convention of tendu leaf collectors and Forest Committees at Jamboree Ground in the state capital on February 7, 2016. Chaired by Forest Minister Dr. Gaurishankar Shejwar, the convention will also be attended by Home and Jails Minister Mr. Babulal Gaur, Panchayats & Rural Development Minister Mr. Gopal Bhargava, Higher Education Minister Mr. Umashankar Gupta, Chairman of State Forest Development Corporation Mr. Guru Prasad Sharma, Chairman of State Minor Forest Produce Federation Mr. Mahesh Kori, local MP and MLAs.
About 50 thousand tendu leaf collectors and members of Forest Committees are expected to take part in it. Objective of the mega convention is to make tendu leaf collectors and Forest Committees more dynamic. Direct dialogue will help make them more capable, inform about welfare schemes and deciding policy for their future. An exhibition depicting increase in forest cover with the cooperation of forest committees and skill development activities will also be put up at the venue.
At the venue, members of Joint Forest Management Committees will be apprised of activities pertaining to minor forest produce, joint forest management, expansion of forestry, Bamboo Mission, farm forestry policy and wildlife. At the convention, tendu leaf collection bonus and dividends of wood and bamboo will be distributed, new medicinal products of Minor Forest Produce Federation will be launched, directory of primary forest produce committees and district unions will be released. On the occasion, process to distribute teak seeds certified by Forest Research Institute, Jabalpur will also be launched.
