CM Mr. Chouhan and Union Minister Mr. Naidu to inaugurate
Bhopal, February 12, 2016 (Muslim Saleem): First Jal-Mahotsav as major gift for tourists will get underway from Friday February 12. Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Union Urban Development, Housing and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mr. Venkaiah Naidu will inaugurate the 10-day mega water tourism event Jal-Mahotsav at Hanuwantiya tourist complex tent city at 4 pm on February 12. Minister of State for Tourism and Culture Mr. Surendra Patwa, MP and State BJP President Mr. Nand Kumar Singh Chouhan, State Tourism Development Corporation’s Chairman Mr. Tapan Bhowmik and local MLA Mr. Lokendra Singh Tomar will be specially present on the occasion.
It is a pleasant coincidence that Vasant Panchami is also occurring the same day. Narmada Jayanti is also falling off shortly. MP Tourism Development Corporation is organizing first Jal-Mahotsav from February 12 to 21, 2016 at Hanuwantiya near Indira Sagar dam. During it, tourists will enjoy water tourism. This thrilling event will not only open new vistas of tourism in the state, but will also mark a new beginning in water tourism sector. Vast water body Indira Sagar dam exists in natural beauty rich Madhya Pradesh, which is biggest manmade water body in Asia. Naturally emerged islands have added to beauty of the landscape.
Due to construction of dam, over 100 islands have emerged in the backwater. The corporation has developed Hanuwantiya tourist complex there. Cottages, boat club and restaurant have been constructed at Hanuwantiya by the corporation. A sum of Rs. 10 crore has been spent to develop tourist facilities there. Plantation has been undertaken to ensure greenery. Water sports complex is also being set up there. The complex has one cruise named ‘Jal-Pari’, boats, motorboats and water scooters.
It is noteworthy that 500 to 700 tourists have already started visiting the place daily. An exhibition focusing on Simhastha at Ujjain and Madhya Pradesh Tourism will also be put up on the occasion. As many as 120 tents have been erected in a tent tourism city for tourists visiting during Jal-Mahotsav. With gift of water tourism here, it will emerge as most favoured tourist destination for adventurous and thrilling activities like water sports, parasailing, bullock cart race, wind surfing, hot air ballooning, trekking, kite flying, volleyball and other matches. It will also have food and craft bazaar. Cultural programmes will be held from 7 pm daily during Jal-Mahotsav.
