Flags off Shakti Raths
Bhopal, March 9, 2016 (Abdul Ahad Farhan): On International Women’s Day, Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan participated in a road show on the theme ‘Ten Years of Women’s Empowerment’ from CM House to Ravindra Bhavan here today. Mr. Chouhan also flagged off Shakti Raths from his residence. These vehicles will publicise women’s empowerment schemes throughout the state. Women & Child Development Minister Mrs. Maya Singh and Chief Minister’s wife Mrs. Sadhana Singh were also present on the occasion. At the outset, girls benefiting from Ladli Laxmi Yojana pinned a badge to the Chief Minister. He presented bouquets and toffees to the girls. The road show began with music band of Shaurya Dal. Gender Champions joined the show from outside CM House. Signature campaign started at Shyamla hills crossing. On it, the Chief Minister wrote, ‘Let everyday be the day of daughters and sisters. I will make efforts for this.’ Women players joined the procession from Akashawani Bhavan and cycle scheme beneficiary girls from Manas Bhavan. Women members of Tejaswini self-help groups presented folk dance. Balloons were released and street play focusing on women’s welfare schemes was staged at Polytechnic Crossing. Large number of women participated in the road show.
