Hoarders to be jailed
Bhopal, April 23, 2016 (Ataullah Faizan): Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department has directed district collectors to conduct regular inspections of business establishments to control pulses prices in the state. Provisions for control on pulses have been made in Madhya Pradesh Scheduled Goods Trade (Maximum Stock Limit and Control) Order. Action can be taken against processors and raders of pulses under these provisions. Directives have been given to undertake daily review after obtaining information about daily rates of pulses in the market to prevent hoarding. Besides, collectors have also been directed to regularly inspect business establishments. If unexpected increase in pulses prices is noticed, collectors have been asked to constitute inspection teams and launch a drive to control prices. On finding hoarding, process to send erring businessman to jail should be undertaken under Essential Goods Supply Act. Directives have also been given to hold discussions with traders of pulses for opening pulses sales centres, if required.
