581 middle schools to be upgraded to high schools

paras25.5.16Bhopal, May 25, 2016 (Abdul Ahad Farhan):   School Education Minister Mr. Paras Jain has said that 581 middle schools will be upgraded to high schools this year. These include 484 schools sanctioned by Central Government and 97 by state government. Besides, 100 high schools will also be upgraded to higher secondary schools. Mr. Jain was addressing a meeting of Advisory Council of Right to Education Act here today. Minister of State for School Education Mr. Deepak Joshi and ACS School Education Mr. S.R. Mohanthy were also present on the occasion. Mr. Jain informed that special attention is being paid to quality of education. Class X and XII board exam results have improved this year. He said that the teachers working as booth level officers (BLOs) should pay attention to teaching work also. Mr. Mohanthy informed that the department is coordinating with Sports and Youth Welfare Department for better use of schools’ sports grounds. Process is on to open one Yoga training centre in every division. Commissioner Rajya Shiksha Kendra Mrs. Deepti Gaud Mukherjee informed that door-to-door survey is being conducted under School Chalen Ham Abhiyan to update records of children from 0 to 18 years of age.

This year also, it has been decided to maintain records of all children on Samagra Education Portal. She informed that under the Act, there is a provision of admission of minimum 25 percent students belonging to deprived and weaker sections in un-aided schools. From year 2011-12 till date, 7 lakh 95 thousand such children have been admitted in private schools. Process of admission of weaker and deprived sections’ children in private schools will be done online to make it transparent. The process will be undertaken through Education Portal from June. Mrs. Mukherjee also informed about school management committees, complaint redressal, improvement in quality of education, computer education, Shala Siddhi Yojana and Pratibha Parv.
