HE Minister Mr. Gupta at meeting of higher education council
Bhopal, May 26, 2016 (Abdul Ahad Farhan): Higher and Technical Education Minister Mr. Umashankar Gupta has directed for constant monitoring of works under Rashtriya Ucchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) and obtain weekly reports. Mr. Gupta gave these directives at a meeting of Madhya Pradesh State Higher Education Council here today. Minister of State for Higher and School Education Mr. Deepak Joshi was also present on the occasion. Mr. Gupta said that action taken reports must also mention dates of correspondence and implementation. It will show as to where the file was delayed. He said that proposals for new colleges and universities having got NAAC recognition should also be sent for inclusion in the scheme. Mr. Gupta said that universities’ registrars and Regional Additional Directors should also be involved in monitoring. Commissioner Higher Education Mr. Umakant Umrao informed that RUSA cells have been formed in 7 universities, 7 divisional offices of Higher Education Department and lead colleges of 50 districts. Rs. 55 crore has been sanctioned to upgrade Pt. S.N. Shukla Government Autonomous Post Graduate College, Shahdol to university.
For infrastructure development works, Rs. 2.50 crore each has been sanctioned to Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore, Jivaji University, Gwalior and Rani Durgawati University, Jabalpur. Rs. 12 crore each has been sanctioned for establishment of new colleges to Sheopur, Jhabua, Harda, Dindori and Umaria. A sum of Rs. 13 crore has been sanctioned to Government Engineering College, Dhar. For infrastructure development works, Rs. 4.50 crore each has been sanctioned to 18 colleges. Principal Secretary Higher Education Mr. Ashish Upadhyay and members of Higher Education Council also attended the meeting.
