Noted poets Aslam Farrukhi is no more

Aslam FarrukhiDr Aslam Farrukhi was died on 15 June 2016 in Gulshan e Iqbal, Karachi. He was buried in Karachi University Graveyard on 16 June 2016 after Zohar Prayer. He was born  on October 23, 1923). He was an Urdu author, critic, poet, linguist, scholar and broadcaster from Pakistan. He is also known for children’s writings. He remained associated as Professor and Chairman with the Department of Urdu, University of Karachi, for many years.[citation needed]

Farrukhi was born on 23 October 1923 into a literary family of Lucknow, India. Most of his family members were poets and writers. After the independence of Pakistan in 1947, he with his family migrated to Karachi, Pakistan.[citation needed]

Farrukhi has taught at Sindh Muslim College and at Karachi University, where he also served as registrar.[2] His son is also scholar Dr. Asif Farrukhi.[3] He was associated as Professor and Chairman with the Department of Urdu, University of Karachi, for many years, and also with Radio Pakistan for more than six years.[citation needed] He is among the country’s few writers of children’s literature.[citation needed] He has contributed to several literary magazines as an editor.[citation needed]

ڈاکٹر اسلم فرخی 23 اکتوبر 1923ء کو لکھنؤ، برطانوی ہندوستان میں پیدا ہوئے[1]۔ ان کا سابق وطن فتح گڑھ، ضلع فرخ آباد تھا۔ انہوں نے ایسے گھرانے میں آنکھ کھولی جو صدیوں سے علم و ادب کا گہوارہ تھا۔ ان کے خاندان کے ہر شخص کو شعرو سخن سے لگاؤ رہا ہے۔ ان کے دادا، والد، پھوپھی زاد بھائی اور یہاں تک کہ ان کی بہنیں بھی شعر کہا کرتی تھیں۔اس کے بعد ان کا ننھیال بھی اشاعتی کاموں میں مشغول تھا لہٰذا وہاں بھی ادبی ماحول تھا۔ ایسے ادبی ماحول کا اثر اسلم فرخی پر پڑنا فطری تھا یا یہ کہیے کہ ذوقِ سخن ان کو خاندانی ورثے میں ملا۔
