CM, Ministers condole death of senior journalist Shri Om Prakash Kundra

kundra Bhopal, July 8, 2016 (Muslim Saleem) : Chief Minister Shri Shviraj Singh Chouhan, Public Relations, Water Resources and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Dr. Narottam Mishra and Commerce & Industries, Mineral Resources and Pravasi Bharatiya Minister Shri Rajendra Shukla  have expressed profound grief over the death of senior journalist Shri Om Prakash Kundra.

Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has expressed profound grief over the death of senior journalist Shri Om Prakash Kundra. In his condolence message, Shri Chouhan said that late Shri Kundra practiced journalism based on national values throughout his life. He was a votary to highest moral values and norms in journalism.

In his condolence message, Dr. Mishra said that Bhopal resident late Shri Kundra was a nationalist thinker and candid journalist. He also suffered agony of India’s partition. After going through various struggles in life, he worked with several media institutions. He made Central News and Features Agency effective and ensured its prestige at a time when newspapers used to be in dire need of news and other publishing materials. Shri Kundra received several awards in journalism. He is also known for grooming new generations of journalists.

Commerce & Industries, Mineral Resources and Pravasi Bharatiya Minister Shri Rajendra Shukla has expressed profound grief over the death of senior journalist Shri Om Prakash Kundra. In his condolence message, Shri Shukla said that late Shri Kundra’s contribution to journalism is unforgettable.

The Minister said that late Shri Kundra was an amicable and soft-spoken person. He was also a social worker. Shri Shukla said that for outstanding contribution of Shri Kundra, the state government had conferred prestigious Late Manik Chand Vajpayee National Journalism Award to him.this loss.

Life and works

Senior journalist Shri Om Prakash Kundra passed away here at 8 am today. The 94 years old Shri Kundra was ailing since long. His last rites will be performed at Subhash Nagar crematorium on July 9. Funeral processing will be taken out from his residence E-32, 45 Bungalows, Bhopal at 11.30 am. Shri Kundra was a Pracharak of Rashtriya Swayam Sewak Sangh for long. Practitioner of nationalist ideology, Shri Kundra was a soldier during World War II, social worker during tragedy of partition and later journalist. In his early journalism, he became in-charge of  Madhya Pradesh edition of Hindusthan Samachar. For the last many years, he was discharging duty as editor of Central News and Features Agency and advisor to Manuj Features being published by Makhanlal Chaturvedi University of Journalism and Mass Communication. Madhya Pradesh government had conferred prestigious Late Manik Chand Vajpayee National Journalism Award-2007 to him.
