CHANDIGARH: Stalked online by the Facebook friend, a 27-year-old married woman committed suicide at her residence on Tuesday night. Identified as Navneet Kaur, a mother of children aged 6 and 4 respectively, the woman ended her life by consuming poison at her residence in Rewari.
Acting on the complaint of her husband, police has booked and arrested the stalker Atul Atri, a resident of Rewari in a case of abetment to commit suicide and various sections of IT Act, registered at Model Town Police station.
Investigating officer Kabool Singh said that Atul is currently lodged in police custody for the recovery of mobile used by him in committing the crime.
According to information, wife of a local trader Inder Pal Singh, Navneet had come in contact with Atul through Facebook. Both are learned to have developed good relations.
But the relations turning sour as Atul started forcing himself upon her and while threatening her to put her morphed pictures only. On Sunday evening Navneet had even lodged the complaint against him at Woman police station.
“Following the intervention of Navneet as well as Atul’s families, she had withdrawn here complaint but was in depression. Following this Tuesday, she was found lying unconscious in her house. She was rushed to hospital where she was declared brought dead,” Investigating officer Kabool Singh said.
Soon after the registration of case Atul was arrested and was produced in court. Court on Wednesday ordered one day police remand for him.
