Mr. Rustam Singh inaugurates WaterAid India’s “Healthy start campaign”
Bhopal, July 26, 2016 (Ataullah Faizan): Public Health and Family Welfare Minister Mr. Rustam Singh inaugurated WaterAid India’s ‘Healthy Start Campaign’ here today. Along with Bhopal, the campaign has also been simultaneously launched in Delhi, Lucknow, Hyderabad and Bhubaneswar. Campaign’s objectives are improvement in health services and creating better understanding about clean water and hygiene in order to improve maternal and infant mortality rate. Minister Mr. Rustam Singh said that not only Bhopal, but in entire state also efforts would be made to ensure clean water and hygiene at all health centres throughout the state. Mr. Singh lauded works of WaterAid India towards prevention of diseases by ensuring arrangements of clean water, sanitation and hygiene in health centres. Director of WaterAid India Mr. Avneesh Kumar said that his organisation in’WASH’. Under this organisation believes that water sanitation and hygiene are vital for health. Safe & adequate water, sanitation and hygiene are pre-requisites for promoting health, prevention of infection and making health condition of the poor better. Health service providers, care-givers and patients should also develop habit of hygiene. WaterAid is an international organisation which improves arrangements for safe water, hygiene and sanitation in poor communities in 37 countries of the world. The organisation believes that rate of maternal and infant mortality is higher in India than other countries. Death of one out of 5 children can be prevented by making available clean water and healthy environment.
