MoS for Aviation Mr. Arya chairs meeting of advisory committee
Bhopal, July 27, 2016 (Abdul Ahad Farhan): For promoting tourism and passengers’ convenience, airstrips have been constructed at Birwa near Kanha in Balaghat and Mandla. This was informed at meeting of departmental advisory committee chaired by Minister of State for Aviation Mr. Lal Singh Arya at Vidhan Sabha here today. MLAs Mr. Ram Singh Yadav, Mr. Jalam Singh Patel, Mr. Gopal Verma, Mr. Balkrishna Parihar, Mr. Nagar Singh Chouhan and Mrs. Mamta Meena and Principal Secretary Mr. Iqbal Singh Bains attended the meeting. The meeting was informed that main departmental works include making available aircrafts/helicopters for VIPs, maintenance and flying of government aircrafts/helicopters. The department also develops airstrips from its own resources to expand air travel services and makes rules to regulate internal functioning. As pilot project, the state government has allotted government airstrips at Ujjain, Ratlam, Dhana in Sagar and Guna and conduct of other aviation activities to private sector institutions on prescribed fee.
There is a policy to lease out government airstrips for 3 months for aero sports activities. The policy also envisages leasing out government airstrips under transparent process for 15 years for aviation development activities like aircraft recycling, helicopter academy, aero sports etc. to private investors. Of these, agreement has been signed with Mesco Aerospace Limited to lease Seoni airstrip for 15 years.
