Madhya Pradesh road safety policy implementing committee meeting

Bhopal, August 19, 2016 (Ataullah Faizan):  Driving over 80 km per hour is restricted in the State. There is provision of strict action in case of violation. Instructions were issued in the meeting of Road Safety Policy Implementing Committee to publicise this provision. Additional Chief Secretary, Home, Mr. BP Singh chaired the meeting. Director General of Police Mr. Rishi Kumar Shukla was present there. Additional Chief Secretary, Home, asked that officers of traffic police and public works department will conduct joint inspection at accident-prone areas. Necessary improvements will be done till September 2016.  Additional Chief Secretary, Mr. Singh issued instructions to police, health, PWD and transport departments to depute one nodal officer for road safety and hold their monthly meeting to ensure regular implementation of the related provisions. Besides, instructions were issued to form district level committee headed by district collector on road safety. Secretary of public works department said that the department had made mandatory road safety audit in road construction. Instructions were also given in the meeting to install signage for speed limit on national highways and other major roads and ensure publicity of the provisions.
