Wrestler Sakshi Malik, who ended India’s wait for a medal at Rio Olympics, has revealed her marriage plans. Sakshi (24) said she will soon be taking wedding vows with a fellow wrestler. She would marry Satyavarat, the son of her guru, who is one year junior to her in age.
Sakshi added that he is supportive of her preparations for Tokyo Olympics 2020. “He is very supportive. He thinks my dreams are his dreams. I will gain a friend after marriage,” she said. “He will help me in my preparations. I believe wrestling after marriage will not be a problem.”
Sakshi became the first female wrestler from the country to win an Olympic medal when she came back from being 0-5 down to defeat Aisuluu Tynybekova of Kyrgyzstan 8-5 in the repechage round. With that she became only the fourth wrestler from the country to win a medal in Olympics.
