Minister Mr. Dhurve gave directives during review of food department
Bhopal, September 8, 2016 (Ataullah Faizan): Minister for Civil Supplies, Consumer Protection and Labour Mr. Omprakash Dhurve while reviewing the activities of the food department especially public distribution system has told the officers to visit fair price shops to understand the difficulties of public distribution system. He further said that he himself visit fair price shops at villages and no expected result can be obtained sitting in the offices, he added. Mr. Dhurve was reviewing the activities of the department on Tuesday evening at mantralya. Principal Secretary Mr. K.C. Gupta, Managing Director of State Warehousing Corporation Mr. Arun Pandey and Commissioner Food Mr. Faiz Ahmed Kidwai were present in the meeting. District Food Controllers of Anuppur, Sagar, Vidisha, Dindori and Umaria to inform about the fair price shop arrangements and P.O.S. Machine Service Providers and Officers of N.I.C were also present in the meeting. Mr. Dhurve asked why eligibility note were not generated of the consumers. He said this should not happen again. Ration should be given to the consumer who produces adhaar card to certify the eligibility in support of first issued eligibility note and if the consumer was declared ineligible than explain reason for ineligibility. Mr. Dhurve said that consumers are confused because all the reasons for ineligibility are not being informed by the machine. List of ineligible consumers should be provided to Janpad, nagar nigam, nagar Panchayat and ration shops.
Mr. Dhurve expressed unhappiness over the frequent machines breakdown besides delay in repair works. He clearly said to the P.O.S machine provider company to replace broke down machines with new one immediately. Keep sufficient machines in reserve to replace the broke down machines immediately, he added. Mr. Dhurve said that necessary arrangements will be made to make the ration available to the consumers on time. Minister Mr. Dhurve directed the officials to arrange new 2000 P.O.S. machines in this month only, in order to increase the reserve quantity of P.O.S machines. Minister Mr. Dhurve also took serious note of complaints as regard to delay in transport of ration to societies by the registered transporters in contract with civil supplies corporation in few cases.
He mentioned that complaint as regard to registration of one vehicle in more than one districts by the registered transporters violating rules and delay in ration supply to one or two societies of district Umaria have been received. He said that this should be examined and action should be taken against the concerned persons. Mr. Dhurve directed the managing director of the civil supplies corporation to find out the reasons for damage to wheat, rice and food items stored in the warehouses and pay attention to avoid it in future. He told the official to provide detail note of food grains stored in the warehouses as well as food grains taken out from the warehouse. Mr. Dhurve further said that activity to inspect quality of the food grains cannot be stopped due to lack of inspection officers posts. Quality of wheat and rice can be checked in general and this responsibility should be given to the current working officers.
