Minister Dr. Mishra will obtain information
Bhopal, October 13, 2016 (Ataullah Faizan): Madhya Pradesh is fully geared up for implementation of ‘Per Drop More Crop’ urged by the Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi. Special meetings are being conducted in the entire state on October 13 related to maintenance of canals and to enhance irrigation area. Minister for Water Resources, Public Relations and Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Narottam Mishra held meeting with the officers of the water resources department on October 4. In the meeting Dr. Mishra while reviewing the irrigation projects gave directives in this regard. Office bearers of the water consumer bodies wil also take part in the meeting proposed to be held on Thursday. Problems and difficulties can be given by the water consumer bodies in these meetings. The problems will be solved by the concerned engineers. After these meetings, engineers will conduct intensive tour of their respective areas on October 14 and 15. Report of works will be presented before the chief engineer water resources department. Work related to redressal of irrigation problems will be carried out till October end. Minister Dr. Shukla will obtain detail information of engineers’ works. Minister Dr. Mishra directed the officials to ensure irrigation water supply till the tail end of the canals.
He told officers to hold constant dialogues with the farmers for proper maintenance arrangements of canals besides keeping other irrigation resources in order. As per the fixed programme on October 13, chief engineers in large projects’ meeting, superintendent engineers in medium projects and concerned executive engineers at district level small irrigation schemes’ meeting will take part. Engineers will tour their respective areas and meet farmers. It may be mentioned that effective and multidimensional steps have been taken to constantly enhance the irrigation area. Strategy has been prepared to increase the irrigation area.
