In a shocking incident, a man dragged a girl off a bus and stabbed her to death, killing her on the spot in Satna district of Madhya Pradesh on Saturday. The bus driver too sustained injuries trying to save her.
College goer Sanju Singh was heading to her home in Sidhi’s Koshmi village for Diwali vacation. The bus was stopped by Shivendra Singh near Gotra village, the police said.
Onlookers said that Shivendra first doused the vehicle with petrol, which triggered panic among the passengers who got off the bus.
Taking advantage of the chaos, the criminal dragged the girl out of the bus and stabbed her repeatedly.
The fatal wounds killed the girl on the spot. The assailant fled.
Sanju was a BA IInd year student at a Rewa college and lived in a hostel.
The brave bus driver had intervened and tried to save the girl and also suffered injuries in the process. He was rushed to hospital by the police.
Locals said that Shivendra lives in a village close to that of the deceased. This could be a case of one sided love affair, an officer involved in the probe said.
