CM Mr. Chouhan congratulates
Bhopal, November 10, 2016 (Muslim Saleem): Rewa Municipal Corporation was conferred with “Vyoshreshtha Samman 2016” as an Excellent Urban Body for providing public services and facilities to senior citizens. The award is conferred by the President of India Mr. Pranab Mukherjee. It may be highlighted that the award is given for “Project Sanvad” introduced to protect the interest of senior citizens, disabled persons and people of weaker section. The award trophy was handed over to the Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan by the Minister for Urban Development Mrs. Maya Singh yesterday. CM Mr. Chouhan congratulated and conveyed best wishes to the Commissioner Rewa Municipal Corporation Mr. Karmveer Sharma and his team for the award. Mr. Karmveer Sharma was honoured with the award by the President Mr. Pranab Mukherjee at a grand function organized by the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment at New Delhi recently. The award carries a sum of Rs. 10 lakh. Grievances of the senior citizens were redressed immediately by holding ward wise camps under the Project Sanvad. The senior citizens were linked with the core banking to lead life with dignity and their Adhaar cards were prepared to facilitate financial transactions. Moreover, ward wise health and public welfare camps were organized and the senior citizens, disabled persons and economically weak persons were benefited by several welfare schemes. Sanvad teams of officers were prepared under the leadership of the Commissioner Municipal Corporation Mr. Karmveer Sharma.
The Commissioner and the Mayor started holding dialogues with the senior citizens and listed their family, social and economic problems. Complete data base of the senior citizens were completed, senior citizens welfare and development societies were formed and Corporators were linked with the societies. Moreover day care centers were made to take special care of the senior citizens. Further special cells were made to redress their grievances and special Renbaseras with all amenities were made for the senior citizens who had no one to look after. Also, special awareness camps were organized to apprise common people about the legal rights of the senior citizens. Beside this welfare camps were organized to help disabled persons also. Efforts for the welfare and help of the senior citizens are still continuing and new dimensions are being added day by day for the welfare of the senior citizens.
