Crop insurance claim of Rs. 341 crore distributed to farmers of Ujjain district
CM Mr. Chouhan at farmers’ grand convention at Ujjain
Bhopal, November 11, 2016 (Muslim Saleem): Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that if there is any God on earth, it is farmer. People cannot lead life without food grains, fruits and vegetables. Difficulties will emerge before the world, if farmers stop agriculture activities. We cannot think of the world without agriculture. He further mentioned that to make agriculture a profitable occupation was his dream and no stone has left unturned for this by the state government. Mr. Chouhan was addressing the grand convention of the farmers organized to distribute the crop insurance claim under the National Crop Insurance Scheme at Ujjain today. Crop insurance claim certificates worth Rs. 341 crore will be distributed to One lakh 41 thousand farmers of Ujjain district. Moreover, CM Mr. Chouhan dedicated the development works worth Rs. 100 crore in Ujjain district. Chairman Simhasth Kendriya Samiti Mr. Makhan Singh, MLAs Dr. Mohan Yadav, Mr. Anil Firojiya, Mr. Dilip Singh Shekhawat, Mr. Bahadur Singh Chouhan, Mr. Satish Malviya, Mr. Mukesh Pandya and Mayor Mrs. Meena Jonval were present on the occasion. CM Mr. Chouhan said that irrigation area is increased in the state. Today 40 lakh hectare agriculture land is being irrigated in comparison to only 7 lakh hectare in the year 2003. He further said that an amount of Rs. 44 thousand 521 crore was spent on large irrigation scheme by the state government. Work to link several rivers is being carried out. After bringing Narmada water in river Kshipra, now work will be undertaken to link Gambhir river with Narmada.
Furthermore, Mr. Chouhan said that farmer will have to repay only Rs. 90 thousand after one year if he takes Rs. One lakh agriculture loan for seeds and fertilsers. He informed that an amount of Rs. 4600 crore is being distributed to 20 lakh 50 thousand farmers of the state as compensation of insurance claim. Mr. Chouhan called upon the farmers that they should take two crops from one crop land and three crops from two crops land. He also urged for maximum use of modern agriculture techniques. Moreover framers should pay special attention towards horticulture crops, animal husbandry and fisheries. Mr. Chouhan further stated that farmers should adopt cashless transactions. Use debit, credit card and mobile banking in their daily life. He mentioned that amount will be provided to the farmers’ bank accounts through online procedure.
Moreover, Mr. Chouhan said that farmers should establish food processing industries. The state government will provide support in marketing and branding for this. Mr. Chouhan administered pledge to the farmers for doubling the agriculture income. CM Mr. Chouhan also inspected the exhibition put up by the Public Relations Department on the occasion of 11 successful years of the Chief Minister.
CM Mr. Chouhan was gifted Hal (Plough) by the Kisan Morcha. Programme was addressed by Member of Parliament Dr. Chintamani Malviya also. At the beginning of the programme, Principal Secretary Agriculture Dr. Rajesh Rajora informed that possibly such a huge crop insurance amount has never taken place in any other state in the history of India. Chief Minister Mr. Chouhan distributed the certificates of crop insurance claim to the farmers of Ujjain district.
