Police said the ASI sustained five bullet wounds while the woman was shot thrice in the stomach and chest. A policeman and a woman were partially undressed when they were found shot dead in the office of a property dealer in Delhi’s Rohini on Sunday morning.
The two were reportedly shot dead from the outside while they were in the retiring room of the office. The shutter was then drawn from the outside. A cleaner found the bodies on Sunday morning, following which, the police was informed.
Sources said that while the ASI, Yogender Lakda, posted in the 1st battalion and a resident of Mundka, sustained five bullet wounds, the woman was shot thrice in the stomach and chest. The bodies have been sent for a postmortem.
The police are suspecting an extra-marital affair to be the cause of the murders.
“It appears that the murder was committed to take revenge. We are, however, exploring all angles,” a senior police officer said.
The police have accessed the CCTV footage from the area to ascertain the identity of the killers.
“It appears that the couple went to the retiring room without locking the gate, and someone who knew that they were there, went to the room, opened the door and started firing indiscriminately. The person then drew the shutters from outside and fled. We are also scanning the CCTV footage from the office. We hope to crack the case soon,” the officer said.
