Unique Narmada Yatra completes 50 days
Bhopal, January 30, 2017 (Ataullah Faizan): The 144 day long “Namami Devi Narmade’–Seva Yatra has completed 50 days. The yatra being started by the state government to conserve life line Narmada river is transformed into a public movement and is moving forward with full stream to achieve its objectives. Whether it is talk about the Narmada River conservation or proper utilisation of available resources, the Narmada Seva Yatra has become a carrier of ideological revolution to spread awareness among the people towards reasons for river pollution, its prevention and conservation. Yatra was started on December 11, 2016 from Amarkantak of Anuppur district. The yatra passing by around 600 villages of 51 blocks and 16 districts will cover a distance of 3,334 kilometer in 144 days. The yatra will culminate on May 11 at Amarkantak. Tha yatra has covered around 1,220 kilometers in 50 days and it is continuing in 8th district Harda. Yatris’ faces glowing with faith and trust has transformed the atmosphere into a unique experience. Whether literate or illiterate, everyone is engrossed in the praise of Maa Narmada. Yatra is getting success in attracting attention of all the sections of the society towards generating awareness for conservation of natural resources. People of various section of the society whether farmers, labourers, traders, students, government officers or employees or from the private sector all has just one goal i.e. to make Maa Narmada’s flow strong again. Local people are also participating wholeheartedly in the yatra to achieve the objectives of the yatra. When yatra reaches village, it seems that literally Maa Narmada’s flow reached the village.
Women and men welcome yatra at the border of their village and enthusiasm reflected from their faces are always much more than what is witnessed during the festivals. Women and girls holding kalashs on their heads and decorating their houses with flowers and colourful rangolis welcome yatris. During the yatra, more than One lakh 20 thousand farmers have initiated action on large scale in around One lakh 50 thousand hectare area for plantation. Moreover, over 8 lakh 500 persons have taken pledge towards de-addiction. Furthermore, 14 thousand 309 saplings were planted in symbolic form.
