Efforts to start small passport services centers in other cities too- CM Mr. Chouhan
Bhopal, February 23, 2017 (Muslim Saleem): A big gift was presented to 15 districts of Indore and Ujjain divisions in the form of small Passport services center at Indore today. Lok Sabha Speaker Mrs. Sumitra Mahajan inaugurated the passport center. Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan presided over the programme. Union Minister of State for External Affairs Dr. V.K. Singh was present on the occasion as a special guest. Passport services center has started functioning immediately after its inauguration. Most awaited demand of Malvanchal is fulfilled through establishment of this center. This center will facilitate benefit to the applicants of 15 districts. Every day 100 appointments will be issued in the beginning and later on appointments will be increased according to the demand. Center has been made to process 600 to 700 applications. This small center will function like passport service center and after examining the application, approval process will be completed in a single working day. Lok Sabha Speaker Mrs. Sumitra Mahajan said that establishment of center is a good result of constant efforts.
She mentioned that Union Minister for External Affairs Mrs. Sushma Swaraj has played an important role for establishing this center. Also initiative is being taken to make Indore Airport an International Airport. Long awaited demand of the citizens has been fulfilled by establishing small passport center at Indore. CM Mr. Chouhan expressed gratitude towards the Union Government besides Lok Sabha Speaker for the center. He mentioned that Madhya Pradesh is getting new facilities with the efforts of the Union Government.
He further mentioned that Passport center at Bhopal was established in 1978 with the efforts of the Mr. Atal Bihari Bajpai when he was Union Minister for External Affairs. After a long interval, the small passport center has been established at Indore with the efforts of the Union Government. CM Mr. Chouhan informed that Union Government has decided to open passport centers at Jabalpur, Gwalior, Satna and Vidisha of Madhya Pradesh. Efforts will be made to open such centers in other cities of the state too. All possible support will be provided by the state government to establish these centers.
Expansion of passport service centers is the need of the hour, he added. Union Minister of State for External Affairs Dr. V.K. Singh stated that passport service is an important requirement of the common citizens. Efforts are being made towards expansion of passport service centers to fulfill the need. New passport centers in big numbers are being opened. Passport service centers at Jabalpur, Gwalior, Vidisha and Satna will be opened in the form of pilot project.
Also efforts are being undertaken to render passport services through main post offices of the districts. Passport service has been made in public interest by bringing transparency in the works of passport services. Work related to passport is being made totally online and the time period has been reduced drastically for obtaining a passport.
