AIADMK deputy general secretary TTV Dinakaran was formally arrested by Delhi Police on Tuesday night after he allegedly paid bribe to a middleman to get the disputed two-leaves party symbol for his faction.
Dinakaran was arrested along with his aide Mallikarjun after three days of questioning at the Chanakyapuri crime branch office.
Dinakaran has been accused of paying bribe to middleman Sukesh Chandrashekhar to get the two-leaves party symbol. The dispute over the party symbol erupted after the AIADMK split into two groups following the death of party supremo and then Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa.
Dinakaran is a leader of the VK Sasikala-led AIADMK (Amma). The other faction is O Panneerselvam’s AIADMK Puratchi Thalavi Amma.
Police sources said Dinakaran was jointly interrogated with Chandrashekhar. He was quizzed about the Rs 1.3 crore found from Chandrashekhar’s hotel room in a five-star hotel in the city.
