Water bodies will be developed in Bundelkhand
Bina River project will be approved- PR Minister Dr. Mishra
Bhopal, April 30, 2017 (Ataullah Faizan): Madhya Pradesh is no. 1 state in agriculture sector. Krishi Karman Award has been conferred to Madhya Pradesh continuously since last five years. Now Madhya Pradesh will become no. 1 in the field of irrigation too. This was said by the Union Minister for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Miss Uma Bharti while inaugurating the Bundelkhand water conservation programme held in village Bandri of Malthone block. Minister for Gram and Seva Ayog of Uttar Pradesh Mr. Manohar Lal Mannu Kori was present on the occasion. Union Minister Miss Uma Bharti also released a souvenir prepared by Central Ground Water Commission. Union Minister Miss Uma Bharti mentioned that no stone will be left unturned for expansion of irrigation schemes in Bundelkhand. Irrigation facility will be provided to every agriculture field. She further said that Ken-Betwa link project will be started soon. This project will facilitate irrigation on 6 lakh hectare area and Rs. 18 thousand crore will be incurred on this. She said that the Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi is working on the concept of ‘Sabka Saath-Sabka Vikas’ and cooperation of common people is needed in the development. Miss Bharti stated that Ganga River will be cleaned in the next 7 years. Minister for Irrigation of Uttar Pradesh Mr. Dharmpal Singh said that according to the geographical condition there is a need to maintain balance in the districts of Budelkhand region to prevent flood and drought.
He further said that expansion of irrigation projects will bring prosperity in Bundelkhand. State’s Minister for Water Resources and Public Relations Dr. Narottam Mishra said that 75 percent of the population are farmers. Development of country depends on farmers’ progress. Constant efforts are being made by the Union and State governments in this regard. The irrigation area in the state has become 40 lakh hectare from 7 lakh hectare. It will become 60 lakh hectare in the next 2-3 years. Dr. Mishra further mentioned that Bina River Project will be approved in the next cabinet meeting. In the next few years Bundelkhand will have maximum irrigated land.
