Proposal sent for Kundi Bhandara of Burhanpur
Minister Mrs. Chitnis holds meeting for action plan on Burhanpur retrospection
Bhopal, May 10, 2017 (Ataullah Faizan): Minister for Women and Child Development Mrs. Archana Chitnis said that three structures of the state are included in World Heritage category. Kundi Bhandara of Burhanpur based on the technique of water conservation and underground transport should be included in UNESCO World Heritage category. A proposal is being sent to the Union Government in this regard. Mrs. Chitnis was addressing the meeting called with an objective to prepare an action plan towards historical importance of Burhanpur and heritage conservation on Tuesday at Mantralaya. Commissioner Archaeology and Archives Mr. Anupam Rajan and Representatives of Archaeological Survey of India were present in the meeting. Consent on construction of Guru Govind Singh Memorial Museum and Tagore Cultural Hall was given in the meeting. Deliberations to make Heritage Cell of Burhanpur active and to develop city in the form of City Museum took place. Moreover, a need to start a process for survey of Tapti River Valley in order to bring archaeological heritage of the city in light was mentioned in the meeting. Mrs. Chitnis informed that Makhanlal Chaturvedi Journalism University will provide 2 fellowships on study of Burhanpur heritages. A seminar focussing Burhanpur will be held at Bhopal on July 15. Beside this, Burhanpur Day will be organised in Bharat Bhavan, in which artists linked to the folk art, songs, musical instruments, dance, painting and literature of Burhanpur area will give their presentations. Principal Secretary Culture Mr. Manoj Shrivastva said that a Burhanpur District Archaeology and Culture Committee will be formed. A book based on Archaeological survey will also be published next month.
