Boy develops “Kashbook” in absence of social media in Kashmir

kaahbookAfter the government in the State of Jammu and Kashmir imposed a social media ban in the valley a few weeks back, a 16-year-old boy gave the Mehbooba Mufti-led government an apt reply by launching Kashmir’s very own version of Facebook, the Kashbook.

Meet Zeyan Shafiq who recently completed his class 10th exams and launched Kashbook alongside his now 19-year-old friend Uzair Jan. The duo developed Kashbook way back in the year 2013 as a website. But soon after the government banned social media platforms this year, the duo re-launched it as an app on May 2nd. The app is now even available on playstore for all Kashmiri’s to stay in touch and get connected.
