Bhopal, May 19, 2017 (Ataullah Faizan): Specific, measureable, attainable, relevant and time bound – full form of ‘SMART’ explains the entire story of success itself. If these things are taken care in execution of Smart City, nobody can prevent in achieving the targets. Urban development minister Mrs. Maya Singh said this in smart and sustainable city solution workshop Munispalika-2017 in Mumbai. Urban development minister of Karnataka Mr. Roshan Baig and High Commissioner of Canada Mr. Nadir Patel were present. Urban development minister Mrs. Maya Singh said that determination of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi has changed scenario of India. Success has been achieved in materialising concept of prosperous and smart India and that is need of the hour. Mrs. Singh said that 31 percent population of India resides in urban areas and this population’s contribution in GDP is 63 percent. This contribution will be 75 percent by the year 2050. Appealing for development of smart city with slogan ‘Sabka Sath- Samgra Vikas’, she said that if there is protect against efforts for smart city, it is smartness to take people and redress their grievances. Minister Mrs. Maya Singh said that behaviour change in people is our first challenge. For that, we will have to work on Knowledge, Attitude and Practice (KAP). Right knowledge brings right attitude and right attitude can be inculcated as a good habit. Unless taking care of environment and maintaining cleanliness does not come into habit of common citizens, all efforts will be futile.
She said that the second challenge is protection of environment. We will have to prepare such plans so that maximum trees will remain on their places or they can be shifted through modern methods and cannot be destroyed. With transferring rights, there is the need to transfer duties. One sapling we plant today will become a tree only when we transfer duty for its protection.
Urban development minister said that five smart cities Indore, Bhopal, Gwalior, Jabalpur and Ujjain have been included in top 30 clean cities of the country. Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan has announced develop mini smart city on the line of this for other cities. She announced to develop ‘Grant Amarkantak’ in Amarkantak as a first mini smart city in the state. Mrs. Maya Singh said that if cities are smart and beautiful, their smartness will spread in surrounding areas like smile.
