Dr. Mishra reviews water resources department in Betul
Bhopal, July 3, 2017 (Ataullah Faizan): Public Relations, Water Resources and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Dr. Narottam Mishra issued instructions to complete irrigation projects expeditiously under construction in Betul district under Water Resources Department. He said that the survey and proposal should be prepared fast for the proposed irrigation schemes. Water Resources Minister Dr. Mishra reviewed the progress of the irrigation projects under construction at a review meeting of the Betul Water Resources Department. Minister Dr. Narottam Mishra assured of approving the Purna Irrigation Project during the meeting. He said that the Parasdoh Dahini canal will soon be approved as per rules. He also granted approval of the lining work of Sanpana and Bakud canal. The Latia-Bichhia project of Amla development block was also discussed.Construction of barrage over Bel river and proposed series of barrages over Tapti river was also discussed during the meeting. Apart from this, Dr. Mishra gathered information about the status of Gadha Irrigation Project. He also issued instructions for the posting of four sub-engineers of Water Resources Department. It was told at the meeting that total 77 schemes were constructed in the year 2005-06 in the district which benefitted 17 thousand 692 farmers by irrigation in 13 thousand 417 hectares. After construction of irrigation projects, 147 schemes were completed in the year 2016-17 through which 58 thousand 51 hectare were irrigated.
The rise in irrigation capacity has benefitted 25 thousand 578 farmers directly. It was informed at the meeting that government has approved the survey work of Gadha Medium Lift Irrigation Project. The survey work is in progress. In this Yojana irrigation is proposed in 6,500 hectare area. Similarly survey work of Wardha Medium Lift Irrigation Project has also been received. In this Yojana, 3,000 hectare area is proposed to be irrigated.
It was told at the meeting that construction of a medium project (Parasdoh reservoir) is in progress in Betul district under divisional structure. On receiving DPR administrative approval of 35 out of 68 new small reservoir schemes, a target has been set to complete its construction after completing all its processes by the year 2019. MP Mrs. Jyoti Dhurve, MLA Mr. Hemant Khandelwal, Mr. Chaitram Manekar, Mr. Mahendra Singh Chouhan, Mr. Mangalsingh Dhurve, Collector Mr. Shashank Mishra, Water Resources Department Chief Engineer Mr. BS Dhurve and other officers of the department were present at the meeting.
