Plantation campaign to be launched next year also
CM Mr. Chouhan plants saplings on Omkar mountain in Khandwa district
Green cover of 36,000 saplings on Omkar mountain in a single day
Bhopal, July 3, 2017 (Ataullah Faizan): Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan took part in the massive plantation campaign by planting saplings symbolic of Navgrahas at Maa Anandmayi Ashram Parisar on Omkar mountain in the famous pilgrim spot Omkareshwar this evening along with his wife. Chief Minister Mr. Chouhan announced that the plantation campaign will be launched next year also. Sapling protectors have been arranged for the conservation and maintenance of the saplings that have been planted today. Today 36,000 saplings were planted in a single day on the banks of Narmada river rendering a green cover to the Omkar mountain. CM Mr. Chouhan told the people present on the occasion that trees give us life and the one who gives us life is God. Thus trees are a form of God. He said that trees provide us with the most valuable oxygen that gives us life and inhale the harmful carbon dioxide exhaled by us. By planting saplings we are making efforts not only to save the environment on Earth but both humans and the world. Chief Minister Mr. Chouhan said that the Earth’s temperature is constantly rising. It was told at a conference of political leaders from all over the world held recently at Paris that by the year 2050, the temperature of the Earth will rise by 2 degree Celsius.
Not only will this result in excessive heat, the melting of glaciers of mountains will lead to a rise in the water level of oceans. Several islands and islets will be submerged in the ocean. This will also irregularize monsoon. Hence it is important that the temperature of the Earth must not rise. The Chief Minister said that along with the other countries, India has also resolved not to let the Earth’s temperature rise and to reduce the temperature planting of trees is a must.
By planting saplings in crores today, Madhya Pradesh has made a significant contribution in fulfilling India’s resolve to save the Earth and the world. CM Mr. Chouhan said that I am happy that the people of the State have given the massive tree plantation campaign a form of ‘Janotsav’. People belonging to every section and community besides officers, employees, public representatives, social, religious and voluntary organization have come forward to plant saplings and create history.
The Chief Minister said that Maa Narmada flows in the form of a stream that is formed from tiny drops of water absorbed during rains by the trees of jungles in Satpuda and Vindhaychal mountains. The oath for widespread plantation on both the banks of Narmada during the “Namami Devi Narmade” – Narmada Seva Yatra was taken to ensure incessant flow of the Narmada. Today I am happy with the support extended by the people in the tree plantation campaign. They have made their contribution by planting crores of saplings on the Narmada Basin in fulfilling their resolution.
