Doctors honoured for best works in family welfare
Bhopal, July 11, 2017 (Ataullah Faizan): Population Stability Month is being organized from July 11 to August 11 to take family welfare awareness and services to target couples. The special campaign which will continue for one month will lay stress on vasectomy and IUCD/PPIUCD service for gap between two children. Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Sudhir Jesani and Dr. I.K. Chugh inaugurated the campaign at Jaiprakash Hospital in Bhopal. Dr. Jesani told that during this month family development fairs will be organized in the district for family welfare services. These fairs will be organized in J.P Hospital, Civil Hospital, Katju Hospital, Bairagarh Civil Hospital, Community Health Centre Berasia, Kolar, Gandhi Nagar, Sultania, Indira Gandhi Hospital, Master Lal Singh and Jawaharlal Nehru Gas Relief Hospital. Specialized surgeons will perform vasectomy on both men and women. Couples will be inspired to adopt family planning methods at the fair. Participation of private institutions in the Santushti Yojana is being ensured. Dr. G.S Argal and Dr. Abha Jesani were awarded for maximum vasectomy performed last year in the district. Similarly Dr. Hemendra Kadam, Dr. M.S. Khan and Dr. Priti Devpujari were also honoured for best works in family welfare. It may be noted that Bhopal lead with 2345 vasectomies in the state last year.
The district’s Crude Birth Rate is 2.0 which lesser than the state and national average. State government has increased the incentive given for male and female vasectomy. Now Rs 2,000 is being given for male vasectomy and Rs 1,400 for female vasectomy. A woman who undergoes vasectomy within 7 days of delivery is given Rs 2,200 as incentive. Similarly there is provision of Rs 300 to the beneficiary for undergoing PPIUCD.
