Acquired training and machines with help of livelihood mission
Bhopal, July 18, 2017 (Abdul Ahad Farhan): Women of self help groups linked with livelihood activities are marching forward towards self dependence by making incense sticks under Livelihood Mission. This work which is being carried out sitting at home has become a medium of their additional income. In order to provide opportunities for livelihood, training to produce incense sticks beside other works were imparted to the members of self help groups by the State Rural Livelihood Mission. Incense sticks are being produced by 1896 women in the state. About 9 quintal incense sticks per day are produced by pedal and automatic machines in the state. 255 incense sticks units are operating in 154 blocks of 24 districts. About 3880 quintal incense sticks are being produced every month in the state. The incense sticks produced by the women belonging to poor families of rural areas are not lagging behind in case of packing and fragrance of multinational companies. Demand of these incense sticks has been witnessed in the market. Women in large number are linked to this work individually or collectively. The incense sticks mainly from Shivpuri, Rewa, Sagar, Dhar and other districts are establishing their identity in the market of the state as well as other states.
