Pay special attention on quality in rural water supply schemes: CM Mr. Chouhan

Rajya Jal Nigam’s meeting concluded under chairmanship of Chief Minister

cm22.7.17Bhopal, July 22, 2017 (Ataullah Faizan):  Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that effective arrangements of internal vigilance should be made to stop corruption in construction departments. Special attention should be paid on quality group water supply schemes of rural areas. CM Mr. Chouhan was issued these instructions in a Board of Directors’ meeting of Madhya Pradesh Jal Nigam here today. Minister for Public Health Engineering Miss  Kusum Mehdele and Chief Secretary Mr. B.P. Singh were present in the meeting. CM Mr. Chouhan mentioned that a scheme should be made to prepare local contractors for participating in tender process for projects of construction departments. Water supply charges should be fixed for the villagers under the rural group water supply to enable them to pay easily.

Water supply schemes being constructed by Jal Nigam should be monitored constantly and these schemes should be completed within stipulated time frame, he added. It was informed in the meeting that project implementation units will be increased from 5 to 12 for strengthening under the Jal Nigam. An amount of Rs. 1758 crore 99 lakh has been sanctioned for 11 rural group water supply schemes of 1248 villages. Currently project implementation units are functioning in Bhopal, Jabalpur, Indore, Gwalior and Sagar under the corporation.

Beside this seven new project implementation units are proposed for Shahdol, Sidhi, Panna, Satna, Damoh, Rajgarh and Jabalpur. A budget of Rs. 1534 crore 45 lakh has been sanctioned for the corporation for 2017-18 in the meeting. Additional Chief Secretary Narmada Valley Development Mr. Rajnish Vaishya, Additional Chief Secretary Panchayat and Rural Development Mr. R.S. Julaniya, Principal Secretary Public Health Engineering Mr. Manoj Govil, Principal Secretary Urban Administration Mr. Malay Shrivastava, Principal Secretary Finance Mr. Aniruddha Mukherjee and concerned officers were present in the meeting.
