BJP Gaushala owner’s cruelties on cow, made fish food using their skins

cowsThe case of around 30 cows dying at a government-aided gaushala in Durg district of Chhattisgarh, in just 3 days, is getting questionable by the day. Latest reports suggest that cow shelter director and state BJP leader Harish Verma, who has been arrested in the case, used the skin of dead cows to make food for fishes. However, local villagers claim that the number of dead cows is well above 200 and they died out of starvation and lack of medicines.State Minister of Water Resources Department, Brijmohan Agrawal, has asked for the detailed report on the case.
Verma was arrested on 19 August after the Chhattisgarh Rajya Gau Sewa Aayog lodged an FIR alleging that a lack of proper facilities at Verma’s cow shelter had led to the deaths.
Verma, who holds the post of vice-president in Jamul Municipality, has been booked under sections 4 and 6 of Chhattisgarh Agricultural Cattle Preservation Act 2004, under section 11 of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1960 and section 409 (criminal breach of trust) of the IPC.
However, Verma blamed the BJP-led state government for not providing him with enough funds to take care of the cows in his shelter. He said that the cow shelter was housing 400 cows more than its estimated capacity.
He also alleged that the state government did not provide the money for the shelter which he has been demanding for 2 years.
Residents said they first noticed “something wrong” on Wednesday evening, when they spotted JCBs digging trenches, and tractors taking away carcasses.
