cmurban30.8.17Bhopal, August 30, 2017 (Abdul Ahad Farhan):  Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan has issued instruction to begin construction work of drinking water and sewage projects approved in urban bodies within the time limit and keep constant vigilance. He said that the work should commence on the fixed date. In delayed cases stern action should be taken after fixing responsibilities, said Mr. Chouhan while addressing the Board of Directors of Urban Development Company Limited. Urban Development and Housing Minister Mrs. Maya Singh was also present on the occasion. CM Mr. Chouhan said that drinking water and sewage projects of urban bodies should be implemented keeping in view the needs of the future. Their quality should as per fixed standards for long term use. There should be no compromise on quality. In case of any negligence or callousness, stern action would be taken against the guilty. It was told at the meeting that projects worth over Rs 7 crores of development, improved service, cleanliness and environment in urban bodies were being run by the company with the support of World Bank, Asian Development Bank and K.F.W Bank.

Urban development projects worth Rs one thousand 80 crores were being run under the state with the support of World Bank. Similarly urban services improvement projects worth Rs 5,400 crores with the support of Asian Development Bank and urban sanitation and environment programmes worth Rs 525 crores with the support of K.F.W. Bank are being implemented.  The urban development company has constructed drinking water schemes in all urban bodies and sewage projects in urban bodies on the banks of Narmada and over one lakh population. These projects will enable proper sewage system for the state’s total 68 percent population. So far this percentage is hardly 5.

The compliance report of the decisions taken at the earlier meeting of the Board of Directors was approved. Additional Chief Secretary Finance Mr. A.P. Shrivastava, Additional Chief Secretary Rural Development Mr. Radheshyam Julaniya, Principal Secretaries to the Chief Minister Mr. Ashok Bernawal and Mr. S.K. Mishra, Principal Secretary Urban Development and Housing Mr. Malay Shrivastava, Principal Secretary Public Health Engineering Mr. Manoj Govil, Principal Secretary Water Resources Mr. Pankaj Agrawal, Commissioner Urban Development Mr. Vivek Agrawal were present on the occasion.
