9 years old girl student molested by conductor in UP

rapeBAREILLY: The entire staff of a school here, including the principal, has been booked after a class III student was allegedly molested by a school bus conductor. The incident happened at Radha Madhav Public School on Bisalpur road. After the father of the 9-year-old victim lodged a complaint against the school authorities, he was allegedly put under pressure by them to take it back. Following the uproar over the murder of a school student in Gurugram, police acted on the complaint on their own, and also booked the accused conductor.
An FIR under sections 354 (assault or criminal force to women with intent to outrage her modesty), 342 (wrongful confinement) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC as well as sections 7 and 8 of the Protection of Children against Sexual Offences Act, 2011 (POCSO) has been filed at Bithri Chainpur police station. The bus conductor Ajay Mishra, 19, also the main accused, has been arrested, police officials said.
According to the father’s complaint, the conductor used to touch the girl inappropriately in the bus. “My daughter told her tuition teacher about the inappropriate behaviour of the conductor. It was on Sunday that I asked my daughter about it and she narrated her ordeal,” said the victim’s father.
The furious father arrived at the school on Monday morning and allegedly assaulted the conductor. School staff had to restrain the man and keep him in a classroom, while the police was informed. After discussions between police and the father, the matter was about to be “sorted” without an FIR. However, following intervention by senior police officials, an FIR was lodged.
“We realized that the girl’s father could back out under pressure from school authorities, so we decided to act on our own and file an FIR. We then received a formal complaint from the father. All the school employees, including the principal, have been named,” said Jogendra Kumar, senior superintendent of police, Bareilly.
School management at first tried to arrive at reconciliation with the father of the girl, but later claimed they were unaware of the conductor’s behavior, and said neither the girl nor her family had raised the matter earlier. “We would have taken severe disciplinary action had we been informed about it,” said Radha Madhav Public School principal RC Dhasmana.
Police have begun investigations. “We are going through footage of the CCTV cameras installed in the school premises to identify which employees confined the father in a room. We are also trying to record statements of other school students who travelled in the bus with the victim,” said an official.
The school had been under the police lens earlier after a complaint that unidentified youths had been trying to lure students last week. According to police officials, the youths used to give a local boy, who was not a student at the school, chocolates and chips and asked him to befriend students. Police had swung into action when locals and parents raised the alarm, and questioned the boy, but have so far not identified the youths.
