Students and Vankarmis awarded at wildlife week ceremony

“Close to my heart” campaign for public participation in wildlife conservation

wild9.10.17Bhopal, October 9, 2017 (Ataullah Faizan):  The Wildlife Week concluded here today at Van Vihar National Park with Additional Chief Secretary Forests Mr. Deepak Khandekar as chief guest. Awards were given to 23 vankarmis for their remarkable contribution in wildlife conservation and students who participated in the various competitions held during the week at the ceremony. On the occasion the Close to my heart campaign was launched in which people can pay Rs 300 and participate in wildlife conservation. Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Dr. Animesh Shukla, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) Mr. Jitendra Agrawal, Managing Director State Forest Development Corporation Mr. Ravi Shrivastava, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Mr. Shahbaz Ahmed, Mr. M.K. Sapra, Mr. U. Prakasham were present on the occasion. Mr. Khandekar administered oath to people to extend active support in wildlife protection, promotion and conservation. Mr. Jitendra Agrawal told that parents and teachers along with children took part in a large number in various competitions held during the week. More than 1000 students took part in the painting contest. Three books including brochures of birds and Coffee Table Book published on Kanha and Satpura National Park, “Biodiversity of Sanjay” of Sanjay Tiger Reserve and small documentary film on Gandhi Sagar sanctuary were released.

Deputy Forest Conservator Mrs. Pratibha Ahirwar, Assistant Forest Conservator Mr. Pradeep Kumar Tripathi, Forest Ranger Mr. Kallulal Mandrai, Deputy Forest Ranger Mr. Sartaj Khan, Vanpal Mr. Mehru Singh Marrape, Vanrakshak Mannu Singh Tekam, Mr. Ravi Sharma and Mr. Nand Kishore Ahirwar, Wildlife Medicine Mr. Gurudutt Sharma, Assistant Programmer Mr. Suresh Deshmukh and Mahout Mr. Gannulal were awarded for outstanding work in Wildlife Conservation. The above persons were presented Rs 50,000 cash each along with a certificate. Forest Range Officer Mandsaur Mr. Upendra Kumar Sharma and nine other officers/vankarmis of Forest range were awarded Rs one lakh cash and certificate for special group achievements. Mahout Mr. Jaggu Baiga and Tiger Protection Force labourer Mr. Krishna Puri Goswami were given certificates.
