Homeless labourer lives and cooks in toilet allotted to him by govt

toiletAfter running from pillar to post to narrate the ordeal of his broken house and when his subsequent requests for a new one under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) fell onto deaf ears, an Odisha man was forced to make a toilet allotted to him his home.
Chotu Rautia, a 50-year-old daily wage labourer of Rourkela district, has been living in the 4X5 feet toilet for past three months. He told that he was forced to turn the toilet, allotted under Swachh Bharat Mission, into his house after getting no assistance.
Block Development Officer Lathikata, however, asserted that the man is not living “inside the toilet but outside it”. The BDO said a detailed inquiry into the case is yet to be conducted but he has already spoken with Chotu about his situation.
